Pharmaceutics help in training the students in drug formulations like tablets, capsules, parenterals, ointments, creams, eye drops, syrups, drug interaction, stability, shelf-life studies, etc. Different aspects of filling, packing, sealing, and labeling are studied by the students. Various practical aspects of Pharmaceutics like Physical Pharmacy, Unit Operation, Dispensing Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Technology, Biopharmaceutics, Community Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Engineering, etc. are taught to the students. Main areas of research in the department of pharmaceutics include – Novel drug delivery systems (Polymeric & lipid based nanosystems), ocular drug delivery systems, transdermal drug delivery system, mucoadhesive drug delivery system and use of bio-polymers for NDDS. Machine Room equipped with all the modern equipments and instruments related to the production and in-house quality control of tablets, capsules, liquids and injectibles. Equipment available: Tablet Punching machine, Fluidized bed drier, Double cone blender, Tray drier, Brook field Viscometer, Filter press, Disintegration apparatus, Tablet coating machine, Capsule filling machine, Ointment filling & sealing machine, Friabilator, Ampoule sealing machine, Tablet Hardness tester, IR moisture balance, etc.


PHARMACEUTICS LAB

PHARMACEUTICS LAB


Trains students in human anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and pathophysiology. Well-equipped with anatomical models, charts, skeletons, and computer simulations. Students learn drug dosages, actions, screening procedures, and toxicology fundamentals. The lab includes Rotarod, Pole Climbing Apparatus, Convulsiometer, and Analgesiometer. The animal house, aligned with CPCSEA norms, houses lab animals for preclinical studies under controlled conditions, with guidance from an Institutional Animal Ethics Committee.

Equipped for extraction, purification, and isolation of natural compounds. Includes Soxhlet apparatus, TLC chambers, autoclaves, and microscopes. Students learn to identify and analyze herbal drugs and crude extracts. The medicinal garden serves as a live resource for studying over 50 species of therapeutic plants with taxonomically verified labels, promoting herbal conservation and sustainable use in traditional and modern medicine.


PHARMACY PRACTICE LAB

PHARMACY PRACTICE LAB


Provides a simulated healthcare environment to train students in prescription handling, patient counseling, and drug interactions. Features a mock pharmacy setup, drug display racks, and digital tools for case-based practice. Prepares students for community and hospital pharmacy roles through hands-on activities in medication review, dose adjustment, and counseling on side effects and adherence.

Specializes in synthesis, analysis, and structural elucidation of pharmaceutical compounds. Students perform organic reactions, titrations, and limit tests using fume hoods, melting point apparatus, and distillation setups. Fosters analytical thinking and knowledge of medicinal chemistry, impurities profiling, and molecular interaction mechanisms.
